A continuing series

A continuing series

Last month: A three-day Vindicator series outlined reader attitudes on blight, specific eyesores across the Mahoning Valley and examples of actions to erase the problem.

Previously: Church youth groups transform vacant, private North Side lots; business leaders revive city neighborhood pride award; new efforts deal with litter that clutters Interstate 680.

Today: Neighborhood residents work to turn an empty South Side corner into a flower garden.

Tell us: If you know of any people or groups doing extraordinary work to get beyond the blight, tell us. We'll select the top stories and periodically profile those who are going beyond the norm to improve how our area looks. Contact staff writer Roger Smith at rgsmith@vindy.com or write him at The Vindicator, P.O. Box 780, Youngstown, 44501.
