The board overseeing the proposed downtown civic center in Youngstown talked about these issues Thursday:
Seeking a manager or management firm to oversee the entire project for the board. Members talked about what types of work the job should entail. The board will hold off on advertising until after legal counsel is hired. The board already is seeking a temporary consultant to guide the project's immediate future.
Having the development committee meet with operators of other sports and entertainment venues in the region. The committee would seek thoughts on exactly what type of building the board should build.
Talked about opening a bank account to receive city money to pay bills. The city Community Development Agency is recommending that the board submit invoices for its costs to CDA, which would send the money to the board's account. The board would write checks to pay vendors. Control of the money was an issue between city council and the board earlier this year. The city would retain ultimate control of the money since the city would release all funding to the board.
