Tribes share their culture in Hermitage

Representatives from several tribes took part in the Native American Gathering on Saturday and Sunday on Snyder Road in Hermitage, Pa. At left, Chip Whispering Wolf Harford of Erie, Pa., dances with his son Lakota Little Raccoon, 5. Above, Laura Wind Walker Dorn of Lisbon leads a song while a group of drummers entertains, below. The United Eastern Lenape Nation, often referred to as the Delaware Nation, sponsored the gathering. Billy Blue Feather Hartford, chief of the UELN, lives in Hermitage. The UELN has a village of 2,000 people in Copley, W.Va., and one with about 12 families near Salem, Ohio. The UELN includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia.
