Office opens in health center for women

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon isn't quite finished, but a Hermitage physician has started seeing patients there.
Dr. Michael Abdul-Malak moved into the center at 875 N. Hermitage Road on Friday and began seeing patients Tuesday.
He is the first of several physicians scheduled to move their offices into the center.
Dr. Abdul-Malak represents Magee-Women's Hospital locally as medical director of women's health clinical trials.
The 24,000-square-foot center is a joint effort by UPMC Horizon and Magee-Women's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
The $4.5 million project is expected to be fully operational by July 1.
An open house has been set for 1 to 4 p.m. July 15.
UPMC and Magee-Women's joined forces to create a center devoted to the health-care needs of women.
Both hospitals are part of the UPMC Health System based in Pittsburgh.
In addition to physicians' offices, the facility will house a diagnostic center and an education center.
