Sluggers belt out hits in 4th to down Astro Falcons, 10 -3

STRUTHERS --The Sluggers used a six-run fourth inning to defeat Astro Falcons 10-3 in Class B League baseball Saturday.

R.J. Hooper had three RBIs and two doubles among his three hits during play at Cene Park.

Tom Banna added a double and single, driving in three runs, for Sluggers. Jason Nolfi also hit a double.

Dan Leonard had a two-run double for the Falcons, while Pat Watt doubled and Chad Wagler tripled.

Justin Sargent pitched a complete-game five hitter for Sluggers, which pounded out 13 hits.

Becdir 4, Alltel 3: Becdir Construction (4-11) got the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth inning. Devin Pontius walked, stole second and scored on a single by Chuck Jaminet.

Matt Brown scattered four hits and struck out nine to pick up the win.

Steve Maiolo and Jaminet each had two hits for Becdir. Dan Cashon hit a triple and single for Alltel (3-12). Gary Hinkson hit a pair of singles.

Goldsteins 13, Rondinelli 10: Goldsteins scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to break away from a 5-5 tie, and hold off a Rondinelli rally.

Kris King went 3-for-5, with a triple and two doubles, and drove in four runs for Goldsteins. Dennis Golubic added three hits, including a double, while Jeff Donston tripled and singled. Nick Tucci and Matt Repec added a pair of singles each.

Rondinelli got three hits each from Dean Palombaro and Nick Pompeo. Pompeo tripled and doubled, while Palombaro had a double. Mike Hanck singled twice and drove in two runs.

WW Heating 9, Livi Steel 6: WW Heating scored five runs in the first inning and held on to defeat Livi Steel.

Chris Russo had three hits for the winners, while Tom Zetts and Ted Russell each added two hits. Zetts earned the victory by striking out eight and walking four.

Bobby Miller took the loss for Livi, which got two hits each from Kyle Moore and Ryan Dillon.
