Reception will honor Rhodeses on anniversary
SALEM -- An open reception will be held from 2:30 to 6 p.m. June 17 at United Local High School in Hanoverton in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Rhodes Jr. of 4024 Woodsdale Road. It is requested that gifts be omitted.
Arrangements for the event are being made by the couple's children and their spouses, Diane and Robert Hughes of Scott, Ark.; Norma and John Koch Jr. of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Ellen and Glenn Turkelson of Lebanon; James III and Karen Rhodes of Salem; John and Gayle Rhodes of Salem; Thomas and Brenda Rhodes of Salineville; and Earl Rhodes of Canton. Eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Rhodes and the former Jean Kathleen Stratford were married June 16, 1951, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in East Palestine. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and is a truck driver for Gause Equipment in Lisbon. He also is a retired dairy farmer and member of the Winona Fire Department and Columbiana County Firemen's Association.
His wife is a homemaker and member of St. Paul Church in Salem. She is a member of the Youngstown Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, the Ladies Christian Benevolent Association, Winona Fire Auxiliary, Buckeye Dairy Boosters, Homemaker's Extension and its advisory, Ohio Council of Churches and Catholic Charities of Youngstown. She also served as a 4-H adviser for 20 years and to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Salem where she serves as state regent.
