Carters honored at celebration of 50th anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Jesse L. Carter Sr., 2465 Stocker Ave., were honored June 3 at a family dinner at Kensington Place in Cleveland Heights on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the gathering were Mrs. Carter's cousins, Joseph, Kenneth, Curtis, Alvin, Hilda and Edna Reese, Louise Charles, Helen Roberts, Hazel Ashford, Shirley Harrell and Doris McDaniels, all of the Cleveland area.
The former Corey M. Mosley and Mr. Carter were married June 2, 1951, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells. They have two sons, Jesse Carter Jr. and Phillip Carter, both of Youngstown, and one granddaughter.
Mr. Carter retired in 1991 after 33 years of service with the Youngstown Fire Department where he was a lieutenant and secretary to the fire chief. He also worked 12 years at Republic Steel Corp. and served in the armed forces during the Korean War. He is active in the Masonic fraternity and is a deacon at Third Baptist Church where the couple are members.
His wife is a homemaker and church deaconess. She is active in the cradle roll, courtesy committee and missionary society of the church and is a member of Miriam Chapter 76, Order of the Eastern Star.
