Renovations

Courthouse improvements will include:

Performing major repairs on the southern and eastern porticos, cleaning and restoration of all exterior stone and brick and replacement of some windows.Installing new electrical, heating and air-conditioning systems.Cleaning and restoring interior artwork and stained glass of the 70-foot-high rotunda ceiling and adding museum-style lighting to highlight it.Rebuilding the skylight above the rotunda and the ceiling of the cupola above it, including the cupola clock.Stabilizing and repairing roof coping.Cleaning the aluminum dome.Putting new skylights over the stained glass in the ceilings of the two main courtrooms.Cleaning and restoring marble floors, walls and the original gold-leaf trim.Painting walls with the colors and wall stencilings found in the original building.
