AKRON -- The wedding of Essence Rosvonne Jones and Shawn Anthony Griffin took place at 4 p.m. June 2 at Mount Zion Baptist Church. A reception followed at St. Joseph Family Center.
The Rev. Dr. L.C. Cooper officiated for the daughter of Derrick and Oddette Jones, 3724 Woodland Ave. N.E., Canton, and the son of Laverne Griffin, 32 Sycamore St., Youngstown, and Cephas Griffin, also of Youngstown.
After a honeymoon in the Bahamas, they will live in Akron.
The bride wore a crimson and ivory gown designed with a cathedral-length train.
Maid of honor was Heather Jones, the bride's cousin, and bridesmaids were Latanya Bell; Toi Worthy; Andrea Heflin; Tequila Calwise; Stacy Glenn; Hilliary and Holli Jones, her cousins; Kenyetta Wesley; Trina Hatchett, the groom's cousin; and Nichal Petron. They wore ivory gowns. Flower girls were Brionna Bembry, his daughter, and Chlo & eacute; Turner-Jones, her niece.
Eryck Griffin was best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Ervin Cowan; Brian Calwise; Charlie Jones, the groom's cousin; Dawan Jones, the bride's brother; Saeed Kadi; Kevin King; Anthony Stubbs; Luther Stubbs; Will Walters; and Lamont Williams. The groom's son, Brylan Kerr, was ring bearer, and ushers were Cortland Booker, John Robinson and Chuck Litle.
The couple graduated from Hondros College, Uniontown, with degrees in real estate and own First Investment and Challenge Mortgage. The bride also graduated from the University of Akron.
