Man is injured in playground shooting

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Shots fired at the Bolinger Playground on Thursday afternoon injured Darrel Akin, 20, of Halco Drive. The playground is on West North Street.

Akin was in stable condition at Jameson Hospital this morning with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said he was playing basketball with several other men when several shots were fired at them from a nearby wooded area at 4:32 p.m. No one else was injured. Police say they are still looking for a motive and the shooter.
