A Mahoning County grand jury handed up superseding indictments against these people Thursday for their alleged roles in a heroin ring with ties to New York City. They were originally indicted in April, but Thursday's grand jury action replaces those charges. All were indicted on one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, 21 counts of trafficking in heroin, three counts of conspiracy to traffic in heroin, one count of trafficking in controlled substances, 4 counts of heroin possession, and one count each of complicity to heroin trafficking, permitting drug abuse, illegal possession of weapons and money laundering.

Osvaldo Mercado, 36, Zedaker Street, Youngstown.
Michael Jones, 47, East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown.
Sixto Melendez, 38, Hudson Avenue, Youngstown.
Ada Cruz, 40, South Pearl Street, Youngstown.
Iris Feliciano, 35, West Florida Avenue, Youngstown.
The grand jury also handed up these indictments on charges not related to the heroin ring:
Phillip N. Williford, 69, Winston-Salem, N.C.; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, grand theft auto, 2 counts of theft by deception.
Joseph Franklin, 48, West Delason Avenue, Youngstown; possession of drugs.
Matthew L. Loswego, 18, Fair Meadow Drive, Youngstown; receiving stolen property, theft.
William Williams, 19, Bryson Street, Youngstown; possession of cocaine, illegal possession of weapons.
William K. Bivens, 22, Lora Avenue, Youngstown; receiving stolen property.
Jamal R. Burley, 20, West Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown; carrying concealed weapons.
Christopher L. Chew, 22, West Boston Avenue, Youngstown; possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine.
Duane R. Harris, 23, Norwood Avenue, Youngstown; carrying concealed weapons, illegal possession of weapons.
Donald Yerchin, 39, Bon Air Avenue, Youngstown; possession of cocaine.
Wesley Walker, 22, Unity Road, New Middletown; trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in cocaine.
