YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested two Youngstown women and charged them with child endangerment early Saturday after police said they left their five young children alone to visit a neighborhood bar.

The two mothers, both 28, were arrested at 1:50 a.m. at the Robinwood Place home of one of the women, where police were waiting. The other woman lives on South Davis Street.

Officers had been notified by neighbors that the children, 2 to 8 years old, were home alone.

The neighbors discovered the children after one child approached them in their driveway late Friday crying and stating that he was home alone and scared.

Police reports said the home was littered with newspapers, dirty dishes and cat feces. Three of the children were released to their grandmother. Two are in the care of Mahoning County Children Services.

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 17-year-old caregiver told police that she was assaulted Friday afternoon by an 85-year-old Carroll Street resident she was looking after.

Police said the client struck the Youngstown girl, employed by Callos Personal Home Health Care, in the knees with a cane after the two argued. When the caregiver tried to use the phone, the report said, the client slapped her face and tried to grab the phone.

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 32-year-old Youngstown man was robbed at gunpoint of two gold chains and a camcorder in the parking lot of Larry's Lounge, 2402 Hillman St., during an argument around 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police said a man in his 20s came up behind the victim during an argument with another man, pointed a gun at the victim's head and robbed him.

The assailant left in a Cadillac Fleetwood with the man with whom the victim was arguing.

WARREN -- One man was killed and another seriously injured in a one-car collision in the 1100 block of North Road S.E. about 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the vehicle was speeding north when the 23-year-old driver apparently lost control on a curve and struck a pole near Adrian Drive. His 25-year-old passenger was killed. Police did not release names of the victims pending notification of relatives.
