Soul food

Alligator Soul Chipotle Mayo, from Alligator Soul restaurant in Washington state, will add pizzazz to any number of sandwiches and salad dressings. The smoky flavor of chipotle peppers works beautifully in this flavorful mayonnaise. A 16-ounce jar costs $3.29 through Internet grocer Peapod.com.

Prizes for cooking kids

Do you have a recipe for kids to grill, or even a fun grilling recipe that your kids love to eat? Ducane Gas Grills is playing host to an online kids' recipe contest at www.ducane.com.

The winner will receive a Ducane 2004 Gas Grill. Second prize is a Ducane carving set, a set of steak knives and four insulated tumblers.

The contest ends Sept. 30.

A new iced-tea jug

Bodum, maker of coffee, tea and kitchenware products, has come out with a new iced-tea jug. The Ceylon Ice Tea Jug holds 50 ounces and uses either loose tea or tea bags with its removable filter. Pour 3 to 4 ounces of boiling water over the tea and let it brew about 10 minutes. After brewing, remove the filter (with the tea) and fill the jug with cold water or ice cubes. The tea can be sweetened as desired.

This tea jug also works well for sangria if you want to remove the fruit. Place the fruit in the filter and add the wine. The fruit stays in the filter while you pour. The iced-tea jug is available for about $15 in the cafe area at Barnes & amp; Noble Booksellers or at www.bodum.com.
