The contractor was a generous supporter of the Youngstown VNA.

YOUNGSTOWN -- David D. Davis, head of D.D. Davis Construction and former head of Davis International, will be recognized by the Greater Youngstown Visiting Nurse Association at its second annual fund-raiser, Fall Fantasy 2001, at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

Davis, for whom the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park is named, volunteered to oversee expansion of the VNA building at 518 E. Indianola Ave., and has supported the agency with numerous contributions for many years, Suzanne Tucci of the VNA said.

Davis was the third generation of his family in the contracting business and built many buildings in the area and around the world. He also has been active in local organizations and activities.

He had served as president of the Youngstown Camp of Gideons International and in the 1980s was named Protestant Man of the Year by the Organization of Protestant Men, named to the board of directors of Bank One of Eastern Ohio, and named Manager of the Year by the Mahoning Valley Management Association.

More information about the VNA fund raiser can be obtained by calling (330) 782-5606.
