SCOPE Howland Senior Center, 9273 High St. N.E., Warren, has the following summer activities planned: Mondays through Thursdays, computer classes from 9 to 10 a.m.; Mondays, bridge and pinochle from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., art instruction from 10:30 a.m. to noon and tap-dance instruction from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. (cost is $2); Tuesdays, strength training from 10 to 11 a.m. (cost is $3), bocce from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and bingo from 1 to 3; Wednesdays, quilting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursdays, craft emporium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (materials cost $10, take a casserole to share) and cards from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with pizza and soft drinks (cost is $1); and Fridays, golf at Vienna Short Holes from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., strength training from 9 to 11 a.m., line dancing from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (cost is $2) and square dancing from 2 to 3:30 (cost is $2). The center will sponsor a trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan Monday through Thursday. There will be a boat ride and river cruise, horse-drawn carriage guided tour, lunch at the grand hotel, a stop in Frankenmuth with shopping, dinner at Zenders and a stop at the Henry Ford Museum. The second night will offer optional gambling at the Kewadin Casino. Three breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner are included in the price of $375. For information call (330) 609-7806.
Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., blood pressure screening at noon and New Middletown Satellite picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, watercolor class at 9:30 a.m., Lake Milton Satellite picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., tai chi at noon, blood pressure screening at 12:30 p.m. and 500 card club at 1; Thursday, woodcarvers at 9 a.m., exercises and Grandparent Support Group at 10; blood pressure screening at 10:30 and line dancing and blood pressure screening at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Sebring Satellite picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and crafts at 2 p.m. Call (330) 744-5071 for more information. The center will be sponsoring a bus trip Aug. 28 to Mesopotamia and the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens. Cost is $36, and the tour will begin with breakfast at Panera Bread followed by a guided narrated tour of Mesopotamia and the Amish countryside.
