Homeless teen arrested in Austintown

Published: Thu, July 5, 2001 @ 12:00 a.m.

AUSTINTOWN -- A homeless 18-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday after he was found with suspected cocaine.

Police were looking for a man involved in a burglary when they approached two teens at 3:15 a.m. on North Beverly Avenue. The teens dropped to the ground as soon as they noticed the officers.

Reports say police found a piece of folded paper containing the suspected cocaine on the ground next to the 18-year-old. He told police it was a caffeine pill that he snorted in order to stay awake.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine.
