Surprise dinner party in Hanoverton honors Gormleys on 50th anniversary
COLUMBIANA -- Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gormley of Columbiana were honored May 19 at the Spread Eagle Restaurant in Hanoverton on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The celebration included a surprise family dinner party and an overnight stay for the couple in the bridal suite at the inn. The anniversary will also be observed in July during a vacation in Aruba with their family.
The festivities were arranged by their sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Randi Gormley of Fairfield, Conn., and Tom and Sandy Gormley of Louisville, Colo., and their four grandchildren.
The former Mollie Bott and Mr. Gormley were united marriage May 18, 1951, at the Bott farm near East Palestine. They are members of First United Methodist Church of Columbiana.
Mr. Gormley is a Mason and a member of the American Legion. He retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. and works part time at the Columbiana Ford dealership as the court runner.
Mrs. Gormley was employed for many years as a bookkeeper and office manager and is a member of several bridge groups.
