BOARDMAN -- Value City Furniture presented its 2001 Store of the Year Awards to its Boardman location at 443 Boardman-Poland Road and its Centerville, Ohio store. Jay Gennari is manager of the Boardman store, which employs about 50. The award is based on a set of criteria, including sales, customer service, safety, loss control and human resources. This was the first time that the 77-store chain recognized two stores for outstanding performance.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Nancy Diller-Shively, owner, president and chief executive of Cambridge Home Health Care, was selected as Ernst & amp; Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in northeast Ohio in the services category. The company has 14 offices in Ohio, including one in Youngstown. The company was also named recently to the Family Business Hall of Fame by the Weatherhead School of Management.
WARREN -- Jon Sherman, president of Sherman & amp; Associates marketing communications firm, has been elected president of MarketPower Agency Network, a nationwide network of marketing and consulting agencies. The network is comprised of 10 agencies around the country which share skills, expertise and resources.
AUSTINTOWN -- Quaker Manufacturing Inc., based on Four Mile Run Road, Austintown, has achieved QS9000, 1998 and ISO 9002, 1994 certifications, quality certifications approved by Smithers Quality Assessments Inc. of Akron. Quaker is a producer of metal stampings, welded assemblies and production painting for a worldwide market.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Robert Cuttica, an orthopedic surgeon, has been elected president of the Forum Health/Western Reserve Care System professional staff for a two-year term. Dr. Nazim Jaffer, an internal medicine physician, had held the position. Other officers elected are: Dr. Shokat Fatteh, president elect; Dr. Patricia Miller, secretary-treasurer; and representatives-at-large Drs. Denise Bobovnyik, Ravinder Nath and Bee M. Lim.
WARREN -- James Ruschman, a McDonald resident, has been named Otis Elevator's local representative of the year for sales and service in theMidwest region, which consists of 14 states. Ruschman, a McDonald High School graduate, has been employed with Otis for 37 years. He works in the Warren office for Otis, a subsidiary of United Technologies.
POLAND -- Bernie Curran, a Poland resident, has been named a recipient of the 2000 Winners' Circle Award by Norton Co. Abrasives, North America in Worcester, Mass. Curran has been with Norton Co. since 1983 and is responsible for industrial sales in Northeast Ohio.
