Garden party held to honor Wilmses' 50th
AUSTINTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Wilms, 3430 Rebecca Drive, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary during a garden party held June 16 at the home of friends, Louis and Sarah Joseph of Youngstown.
The former Jocelyn M. Fox and Mr. Wilms were married June 16, 1951, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown.
Mrs. Wilms is a homemaker and a professional genealogist. She is a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and was elected as a fellow of that organization in April 2000. She is also a member and past president of the Mahoning County Chapter of OGS and is a member of First Families of Ohio and the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio. She is a Methodist.
Retiring in 1986 as an inspector with General Fireproofing, Youngstown, after 39 years of service, Mr. Wilms is a member of OGS and the Mahoning County Chapter and was the first member inducted into the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the China-Burma-India theater of operations. Mr. Wilms is a member of Community of Christ.
