Austintown, YSU grad
James L. Chianese has received his doctor of podiatry degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric medicine.
Dr. Chianese is a 1991 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and earned his bachelor's degree in combined science at Youngstown State University. He will complete his surgical residency at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, near Cleveland, where he lives. He is the son of Leonard and Margie Chianese of Austintown.
Struthers alumna
Cynthia Sayers, daughter of Joseph and Rosalie Smrek of Struthers, has received her doctor of optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry of Boston. A 1991 graduate of Struthers High School, Dr. Sayers earned her bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and will begin her residency training at the Rhode Island Eye Institute in Providence, R.I. She also is a member of Beta Signa Kappa Optometric Honor Society, is married to Kevin Sayers, and lives in Attleboro, Mass.
E. Liverpool, Canfield
Two local people were awarded doctor of medicine degrees at commencement ceremonies at the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. They are Gregory J. Brophey of East Liverpool and Amanda D. Dunn of Canfield Township.
U & raquo;Dr. Brophey, a son of Greg and Debby Brophey, Park View Drive, East Liverpool, is a 1996 graduate of Kent State University, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in biology and pre-medicine.
He will begin a residency in ophthalmology at Summa Health System in Akron.
U & raquo;Dr. Bunn, daughter of Dr. David and Susan Bunn, Joyce Ann Drive, Canfield Township, and James and Barbara J. Watson, 12910 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, Fla., is a 1997 graduate of Miami University, Oxford, where she majored in microbiology. She will begin residency training in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, Va. At MCO, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega medical honor society and was the recipient of two scholarships for academic excellence. She also served on the school's medical student council.
Marguerite Elizabeth Zinz has received her juris doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Zinz graduated cum laude and was admitted to the Order of the Coif, as a member of the top 10 percent of her graduating class. She is the daughter of Margaret and James Cullinan and Shirlee and Robert Zinz, all of Canfield. A 1994 graduate of Canfield High School, and a 1998 magna cum laude graduate of Westminster College, she will live in Toledo, where she will join the law firm of Cooper & amp; Walinski as a litigation associate.
