YOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Jackson of 1390 Kenneth St. were honored Aug. 4 at a family dinner at Mitchell's Steak House in Columbus in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the festivity were the couple's daughters and sons-in-law, Christal and LeRoi Hill of Columbus, Sylvia and Donald Lawrence of Atlanta, and Monica and Courtney Limerick of St. Charles, Mo. Four grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Jackson and the former Gertrude Napier were married Aug. 4, 1951, at Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. He served in the signal corps of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired in 1992 from General Motors Corp. in Lordstown, where he worked 26 years as a general foreman. His wife retired in 1994 after 28 years as a lamp and coil maker at General Electric Co.
The couple are members of Price Memorial, where Mrs. Jackson served on the adult usher board and food ministry. She also is a member of Ebony Life Line support group.
The Jacksons belong to Cr & eacute;me de la Cr & eacute;me Couple's Club.
