PORTAGE COUNTY Fair will feature country musician

Country music artist Chris Cagle will perform
RANDOLPH, Ohio -- The 143rd annual Portage County Randolph Fair will be Tuesday through Aug. 26.
The featured performer is Capitol recording artist Chris Cagle.
Tickets for his concert at 4 p.m. Aug. 26. may be purchased at the fair office or by calling (330) 325-7476. Grandstand seating is $8, and track seating is $10.
"We haven't had a concert in years, and people have been asking for it, so we hope they come out for it," said Fran Bailey, promotion and advertising committee member.
This will be the second year for the Rough Truck Contest, a timed obstacle course for pickup trucks. Bailey said the contest had a big turnout last year, and she expects a bigger crowd this year.
The entry fee for the Rough Truck Contest is $20. Registration will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, the day of the event.
The top 15 finishers will receive money prizes.
Other attractions: In addition, demonstrations, exhibits, derbies, competitions and truck and tractor pulls are on the agenda.
Bailey said the fair draws about 142,000 people for the week.
"We're hoping for a bigger turnout this year," she said. "We hope the weather cools down."
The fairgrounds is along state Route 44. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-11. Children under 6 are admitted free. Grandstand admission Tuesday through Sunday is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
Ride tickets cost $1, and special ride prices are available for each day of the fair.
