Corner Dairy robbed
FARRELL, Pa. -- Police said a gunman took an undisclosed amount of cash from the Corner Dairy, 1158 Emerson Ave., at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The clerk told police that a male between 15 and 20 years old walked into the store, pulled out a small handgun and demanded cash. The clerk handed over some money and the gunman fled. The robber was black and about 5 feet 7 inches tall, but no further description was available.
Injured in accident
TRANSFER, Pa. -- A Niles woman was hospitalized with injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle accident on West Lake Road in Pymatuning Township on Saturday. Police said Penny Kaszowski, 20, of Pleasant Valley Drive, was eastbound when a westbound vehicle driven by Morgan Frazier, 18, of South Mercer Street, Greenville, slid out of control on a curve and struck her vehicle. Kaszowski was in stable condition today in Sharon Regional Health System. Three passengers in her car were treated at Sharon Regional. Frazier and two passengers went to UPMC Horizon's Greenville hospital but condition reports were unavailable this morning.
Session for trustees
NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township trustees will meet in special session at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in the township meeting room in the South Range Plaza. They are expected to pass a resolution to place a 1.9-mill replacement levy for general operating expenses on the November ballot. They also will be seeking bids for improvements to the parking lot at the safety building.
School board to meet
HANOVERTON -- United Local Board of Education will meet in special session at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the high school conference room. The purpose is to adjourn to executive session to discuss personnel matters.
Farm bureau meeting
LISBON -- Columbiana County Farm Bureau's 79th annual meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Trinity Friends Church, 33937 U.S. Route 30 west of Lisbon. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 4 to 12. Reservations are required by Aug. 28. Forms are available at the farm bureau office, 330 S. Lincoln Ave. Members will elect trustees to serve two-year terms on the board and will elect voting delegates to the 2002 Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting.
Man reports theft
SALEM -- A Cedar Ridge Drive man told police someone broke into his apartment and stole stereo equipment and $80 cash. The theft was reported about 10 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Man jumps to his death
RICHLAND , Pa. -- A Hubbard man jumped to his death Friday morning from a bridge on Interstate 80. Pennsylvania State Police said Paul Phibbs, 36, of Walnut Street, parked his car along the berm about 10:20 a.m. Friday, ran onto the bridge near Emlenton, climbed onto the retaining wall and jumped about 200 feet. Venango County Coroner John Greggs pronounced Phibbs dead at the scene. State police in Clarion are investigating.
