Becks honored on 50th jubilee during vacation
COLUMBIANA -- Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beck, 640 Springfield Road, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with 20 members of their family during a weeklong vacation July 29-Aug.5 at cabins in Shawnee State Park, Portsmouth.
The former Carolyn Ross and Mr. Beck were united in marriage Aug. 11, 1951, at the home of the bride's parents in Salem.
Mr. Beck owned and operated Beck's Home Decorating for 35 years and continues to work in the business from his home. He is an active member of First Christian Church, where he has served for many years as a deacon and elder. He has also served as a president of the local Kiwanis Club.
Mrs. Beck graduated from Salem City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and was a nurse at Salem Central Clinic, Salem City Hospital and Parkside Healthcare Center. She also worked with her husband in his business, and led the youth group and taught Sunday school at First Christian Church, where she has been a member of the Priscilla Circle. She is a charter member of the Community Christian Women and was a member of the board of Columbiana Chamber of Commerce.
The couple have four children, Kenneth Beck of St. Louis, Marjorie Redford of Cincinnati, and Marcella Patton and Karen Ullom, both of Columbiana. They also have 10 grandchildren.
