First Place profits showgain over last year
WARREN -- First Place Financial Corp. reported profits of $12 million, or $1.02 cents per share, for its fiscal year ended June 30, compared to profits of $8.3 million, or 91 cents per share, a year ago. The year-end totals exclude costs related to the company's merger with FFY Financial Corp., which closed in December, and its acquisition of Ravenna Savings Bank, completed in May 2000. Profits for the fourth quarter ended June 30, excluding merger-related costs, totaled $4.4 million, or 30 cents per share, compared to $1.6 million, or 19 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.
Rainbow Rentals opensnew store in N. Carolina
CANFIELD -- Rainbow Rentals, a Canfield-based rental-purchase retail chain, is opening a new store in Charlotte, N.C., its 110th store and its third in the Charlotte area. The company has operations in 11 states and employs about 800.
