Paving in Youngstown
Updates on two other paving projects separate from the city's annual street resurfacing:
About 25 percent of a $900,000 project on South Avenue started last year, which carried into this year due to bad weather, must be redone. Pavement already is deteriorating in spots. The contractor will resurface the street -- at no cost to the city -- in two to three weeks. Repairs should be done by Sept. 15. The project included paving, curbs, sidewalks and drainage from Williamson Avenue to Interstate 680.A $329,000, state-funded paving project on Steel Street, from Salt Springs Road to Wellington Avenue, is about 65 percent done and on time. Work includes curb, sidewalk, drainage and catch basin improvements. The job should be done by the end of August, two to four weeks earlier than originally scheduled.
