FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Luke Field pitched six strong innings, allowed only five hits and struck out five as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers posted a 3-1 victory over Hudson Valley on Wednesday at Dutchess Stadium.
Behind 1-0, the Scrappers (13-29) scored the deciding runs in the New York-Penn League game in the top of the sixth inning.
With two away, Rickie Morton hit a home run. Miguel Quintana singled to right and stole second. Brian Kirby doubled and Quintana scored.
Morton singled home Billy Munoz with an insurance run in the eighth.
Strong relief: The Scrappers' Mark Turnbow worked 12/3 shutout innings in relief as he struck out three. Chris Cooper finished up. He gave up two hits and struck out one in 11/3 innings.
Hudson Valley (23-20) actually outhit the Scrappers 9-8 with Luis Depaula, Aaron Clark and Luis Candelario getting two hits apiece.
Morton was the key hitter for the Scrappers, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Quintana hit two singles and stole a base.
