Description: Burton W. Cole is assistant metro editor and columnist at the Tribune Chronicle in Warren, where he has worked since 1996. His first novel, a children’s book titled “Bash and the Pirate Pig,” is a humorous romp through a northeast Ohio farm. His second book, “Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper,” will be released next spring. In this presentation, Cole will talk about the origins of his “Burt’s Eye View” newspaper column and his journey to find his own Blight County, Idaho, End of the Road, Alaska, Lake Wobegon, Minn., and Harmony, Ind., right in his own backyard. He invites readers to come for the inspiration, come for the chuckles, or come with your questions. The lesson is simple: If even Burt can chase down his dream, why can’t you?

Description: The one woman performance will be presented by Carol Starre-Kmiecik, a Cleveland actress who has been performing with her one-woman company "Famous American Women" since 1996. Her characters include Amelia Earhart, Clara Barton, Elizabeth Bayley Seton, Clare Boothe Luce, Dorothy Fuldheim and Molly Brown. Each performance given showcases the triumphs and tragedies of some of the nation's most influential women. After marrying a man who struck gold, Molly Brown travelled the world and survived the sinking of the Titanic. This show is popular with all groups but especially those who love the Victorian era. Description: The YSU Poetry Center & Etruscan Press will host a reading by Nin Andrews and Sean Thomas Dougherty. Andrews' poems and stories have appeared in Ploughshares, Best American Poetry, and The Paris Review. She has won two Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Awards, and is the author of six chapbooks and five full-length collections of poetry. Her next book, Why God Is A Woman is due from BOA in 2015. Dougherty is the author of thirteen books and a recipient of two Pennsylvania Arts Council Fellowships and a Fulbright Lectureship in the Balkans. His most recent book is Scything Grace (Etruscan, 2013). In 2014, BOA will release his Selected Poems. The reading is free and open to the public.
