Pioneer Craft Days

Place: Beaver Creek State Park, Rogers, OH

When: Sunday, October 7, 2012, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Description: Parking will be available at Beaver Creek State Park. Handicapped parking and a drop off and pick up area will be offered. During the festival, volunteers will bring the village to life by grinding grain with the only operating water-powered grist mill in Columbiana County. There will also be demonstrations of a working blacksmith’s shop, spinning in the log cabin, weaving in Gaston’s Mill, and programs will be offered in the one room school house. A newly expanded display of the surrender tree under which Confederate General John Hunt Morgan surrendered on July 26, 1863 can be seen in the museum portion of the grist mill. The trading post will be open and will offer souvenirs and snacks. Numerous artisans, crafters, demonstrators, food vendors and traditional musicians providing period music will also be offered. Artisans, crafters, antique vendors and antique farm equipment for display will be accepted until Sept. 30.
