Ben, a Golden Retriever, belonging to Rebecca Onuska, of Youngstown, emerges from the pool with a toy during the Pooch Pentathalon at the Davis Family YMCA in Boardman on Sunday afternoon. Ben suffers from severe bilateral hip dysplasia and Onuska was originally told he wouldn't be able to walk by the age of two without surgery. Instead, Onuska decided to pursue wholistic methods utilizing an underwater treadmill, adequan (injectable glucosomine), and keeping active. Now at the age of four Ben is active both in and out of the water, competing in obedience and acting as a therapy dog. ROYALTY: Valentine’s Day was celebrated during a prom Feb. 12 at Antonine Sisters Adult Day Care, 2675 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, by more than 30 day-care participants and their guests. A mixture of romantic and upbeat music for listening and dancing was provided by Mary Ann Shank. Those attending elected Paul Graves and Jennie Davies, above, as the king and queen of the prom. Afterward a lunch was served by the Antonine Sisters.

LASTING TRIBUTE: The names of 42 young men from Woodrow Wilson High School killed in World War II and the names of three who died in Vietnam are listed on the war memorial now adorning a wall at Wilson Middle School on Gibson Street.
