NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster junior guard Craig Hannon (Union) scored 15 points to pass the 1,000-career point plateau, finishing with 1,005 to lead the Titans (3-4, 1-0) in their Presidents' Athletic Conference opener. Dom Joseph added 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Titans, who shot 14 of 44 from 3-point range. All 15 of Hannon's points came on 3-pointers. Chauncey Whitlow (Wilson) added 16 points for Westminster. For Washington & Jefferson (1-8, 0-1), Jon Koch had 21 points and Wahab Owalabi added 14. Greg Stuckey scored 10 points off the bench.

Hiram 74, Oberlin 71

OBERLIN — Brandon Pool scored 19 points to lead Hiram (1-4, 1-1), which took a 39-24 halftime lead in a North Coast Athletic Conference game. Mike Staley added 16 points and six assists, while Michael McDevitt had 11 points and Ian McGuire came off the bench to score 10. Quinton Spencer scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Oberlin (2-6, 1-2), which made just 8 of 30 shots from the field in the first half. Jordan Beard had 15 points, while Omari Hall and Mike Loll each added 12.

Malone 84, Geneva 70

CANTON — Malone (5-4) pulled away with a 47-35 surge in the second half. Jesse Schlabach, who scored 12 points, reached a career-high 1,007 for his career. Ben Carver had 16 points and nine rebounds, Chris Miller had 12 points and Tyler Renner scored 10. Jermaine Ferguson led Geneva with 14. Bryan Hill and Greg McDivitt each had 11.

Kent St. 79, IPFW 69

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Julian Sullinger scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Kent. Mike Scott added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Flashes (5-3). Justin Hawkins led the Mastodons (3-7) with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. IPFW trailed at halftime despite shooting 13-of-23 (56 percent) from the floor in the first half. The Mastodons led 31-24 with 4:58 left in the half, but Kent State went on a 15-6 run over the final five minutes to take a 39-37 lead. The Golden Flashes outshot IPFW 46 percent to 39 percent in the second half and built their lead to as much as 11 points with 3:14 remaining. Kent State outrebounded IPFW 35-31 and converted 19 Mastodon turnovers into 23 points.

Bethany 78, Thiel 76

BETHANY, W.Va. —Thiel battled back from an 11-point halftime deficit but couldn't hold a one-point lead in the final minute. Ryan Besancon scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while James Wallace (Fitch) added 18 points in the PAC game. Joe Herrmann had 19 points, four rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks for Thiel (2-4, 0-1), while Brandon Mirizio (Kennedy Catholic) added 16 points with three assists. Gary Gates had 11 points and three steals.

Waynesburg 89, Grove City 82

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Visiting Waynesburg rallied from a five-point deficit in the final minute of regulation, then outscored Grove City 12-5 in overtime. Waynesburg guard Tim Drakeley tied the game at 77 with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of regulation. The Yellow Jackets (4-2, 1-0 PAC) led wire-to-wire in overtime. Junior guard Ryan Gerber led the Wolverines with 19 points while senior forward Mark Smith added 18.

WOMEN

Westminster 64,

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Emilee Ackerman scored 16 points, including an 8-of-8 effort from the free throw line, to lead Westminster (5-3, 1-0), which outscored the Presidents 32-21 in the second half of a PAC game. Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls) had 14 points for the Titans, while Terese Marszalek had 13. For Washington & Jefferson (5-3, 0-1), Stephanie Smith scored 16 points and Kennan Killeen had 11.

Heidelberg 68, Mount Union 60

TIFFIN — Heidelberg (5-2, 1-2 OAC) led 31-25 at intermission, then held off Mount Union to prevail. Amanda Campbell scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to pace the winners. Brittan Skolnicki added 17 points. Meghan Simons led the Purple Raiders (3-4, 0-2) with 13 points.

Grove City 57, Waynesburg 44

GROVE CITY, Pa. — After a low-scoring first half, which Grove City led 22-12 at intermission, the Wolverines (2-6) went on to win its PAC opener. Shannon Overdorff paced Grove City with 17 points and eight rebounds. Elyse Bogusz chipped in with 15 points. Michaelene Jones led Waynesburg (3-5) with 12 points.

Denison 79, Hiram 51

HIRAM — Kristen Sheffield scored 15 points and nine rebounds to lead three Denison players in double figures in a NCAC game. Ellen O'Brien and Carolyn Simpson each added 10 points for Denison (6-4, 2-0), which took a 46-18 halftime lead. Cassie Bedarde had 19 points for Hiram (1-4, 0-2), while Tania Carman added 13.

Bethany 76, Thiel 75

BETHANY, W.Va. – Nicole Thompson hit a 3-point basket at the buzzer for Bethany in a PAC opener. Lisa Mitchell scored 21 points and added nine rebounds for Bethany. Amber Bodrick (Mooney) sparked the Tomcats with 38 points and 16 rebounds with four steals, three assists and two blocks. Nicole Valentino (Sharon) scored 20 points while Fontella Jones (Farrell) netted 10 points with 10 boards.

Kent State 89, Alcorn State 53

HOUSTON, Texas — Kristin Peoples had 20 points and Jailah Humes and Asheley Harkins each added 15 for Kent (2-4), which took a 40-23 halftime lead.
