Geneva 89, Carlow College 77
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. Jackie Anthony scored a season-high 23 points as the Golden Tornadoes (5-2, 2-0 AMC North) erupted offensively, despite missing leading scorer Allyson Clarke (sprained ankle). It was the second-highest total in the past five years for Geneva. Renee Rawding added 16 points, Lauren Uranker had 14 and Ruth Dobos scored 12 in the victory. Carlow was led by Jacqueline Muir and Christina Costa with 20 points each.
Allegheny 73, Westminster 66
MEADVILLE, Pa. Westminster senior point guard Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls) scored a team-high 20 points, but they weren't enough as the Titans saw their four-game winning streak snapped. The Titans (4-3) built a commanding 18-point, 36-18 lead with one minute remaining in the first half. The Gators (5-1) then went on a 21-4 run covering less than six minutes to draw within one point. Katie Kestler led the Gators with a career-high 23 points. Sophomore guard Gina Brunetti (Cardinal Mooney) had 11 points for Westminster.
Juniata 55, Grove City 53
GROVE CITY, Pa. Trailing 52-50 with two minutes left, the Wolverines committed three turnovers and missed the front end of a one-and-one to lose a non-conference game. Grove City (0-6) closed to within 55-53 with 0.8 seconds left on a three-pointer from junior center Rachel McCoy (Beaver Local). However, the Wolverines could not regain possession. Senior guard Elyse Bogusz led all scorers with 21 points, including five 3-pointers. She also pulled in a team-high eight rebounds. McCoy added 10 points and three blocks. Courtney Callas led Juniata (6-1) with 14 points while Kelly Ashcraft added a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Bethany 63, Chatham (Pa.) 38
PITTSBURGH, Pa. Freshman guard Brooke Orange scored a career-high 19 points and three others scored 10 points each to lead the Bethany to its second consecutive victory. Sophomore forward Renee Brandenburg had 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds, Courtney Irwin had 10 points and eight boards, and sophomore forward Mandi Swiger had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Bison (3-5). For Chatham, Allason Holt scored 12 points.
