Ohio Northern 64, Mount Union 51

ALLIANCE — Ohio Northern (7-1, 3-1), behind 23-21 at intermission, outscored the Purple Raiders (4-3, 1-2) in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest. Kyle Gehle paced the Polar Bears with 22 points. Jake Cannan added 10 and Michael Hunter grabbed 10 rebounds. Stu Anglum led the Purple Raiders with 16 points. Sam King chipped in with 11 and he had four assists. Justin Francis pulled down six rebounds.

Thiel 63, Hiram 62

GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Tomcats (3-5) held off a late second-half rally to prevail in the non-conference game. Michael McDevitt scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Terriers (2-5). Mike Staley had four assists. Cory Chafee led the Tomcats with 16 points. Joe Herrmann added 14 points and he pulled down 10 rebounds. Sharron Summerville chipped in with 13 points and he had four assists.

Geneva 80, Penn State Beaver 68

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Greg McDivitt and Kyle McDermott combined for 45 points in leading Geneva to its seventh win in 10 contests. The Golden Tornadoes rolled to a 41-24 lead by intermission. Justin Nardi chipped in with 11 points and he had six assists for Geneva (7-5). Jermaine Ferguson grabbed eight rebounds. Zach Fetchin led the Lions with 20 points. Raymond Edmonds and Delon Bournes added 14 apiece and Tim Jukes had 10.

Walsh 109, Virginia Intermont 66

NORTH CANTON — Walsh (8-3) got off to a 19-1 run and that pretty much sealed the outcome in the final game of the Hoops 4 Healing Classic as the Cavs built a commanding 53-36 lead by intermission. Senior Josh Ozanich, a Champion High graduate, and Eder Araujo each scored 18 points as the Cavs placed six players in double figures. Ozanich grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore Josh Johnson of Warren added 10 points.

Malone 88, Daemen (N.Y.) 50

NORTH CANTON — Malone (7-4) had control of the contest leading 35-21 at intermission in a Hoops 4 Healing Classic contest at Walsh. Tyler Renner led the Pioneers with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Miller added 11 points. Quentin Hudson led Daemen (5-7) with 12 points.

WOMEN

Hiram 66, Lake Erie 65

PAINESVILLE — Three area women helped Hiram to its victory. The Terriers held a 40-35 lead at Intermission, then held off Lake Erie's second half rally. Abbey Gorby, a East Palestine High graduate, scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Hiram. Cassie Bedard paced the Terriers (2-5) with 16 points. Tania Carman chipped in with 15 and Brittany Mayle had 10. Allison Davis of Boardman scored three points and three assists for Hiram. Stephanie Zunic of Canfield scored eight points. Jalisa Mitchell led the Storm with 26 points.

ADA — The Polar Bears pulled away from the Purple Raiders with a 34-25 advantage in the second half. Erin Brand, who made 6-of-11 field goals and all eight of her free throws, sparked the Polar Bears (7-2, 3-1) with 20 points in the Ohio Athletic Conference contest. Danielle Andreasen chipped in with 10 points and she grabbed seen rebounds. Haley Drayer led the Purple Raiders (3-5, 0-3) with 13 points. Alicia Williams added nine points and pulled down six rebounds.

Indiana (Pa.) 78, Walsh 70

CANTON — Walsh (2-8) rallied from 18 points down in the second half before losing to IUP. The Cavs turned the ball over 14 times in the first half, and paid for it dearly, in trailing 41-33 at the break. Ingrid Brainard paced the Cavs with 23 points and seven assists. Nicole Dressler scored a career-high 18 points, hitting a career-best five three's.

Huntington 64, Malone 60

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Despite a 25-point scoring effort from Cara Shiplett of Malone, the Pioneers weren't able to turn back Huntington. Nikki Parson added 11 points and she grabbed 11 rebounds. Amy Berry led Huntington with 16 points and she had five rebounds.

Thiel 68, La Roche 55

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Senior guard Nicole Valentino, a Sharon High graduate, scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had four assists for the Tomcats (5-5) in the Beeghly Gymnasium. Teammate Jena Cook, who was 3-of-5 from three-point range, also scored 25 points and she had five rebounds. Shakeeya Simmons sparked the Redhawks (1-7) with 21 points and she had a game-high 13 rebounds.
