Slippery Rock University Open

Men

Grove City — was led by 10 top-eight finishes. Junior Matt Kulinski cleared 14 feet, 6 inches to take second in the pole vault while junior Dave Hodge leaped 44-3/4 to place second in the triple jump. Freshman thrower Tony Clark placed fourth in the discus with a toss of 143-1 while senior Bob Perri took sixth in the shot put (48-6). Senior Craig Hallman tied for seventh in the high jump by clearing 5-9. Junior Chris Andrew took fifth in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 10 minutes, 0.93 seconds. Sophomore Darin Miller placed sixth in the 800 (1:59.25) while sophomore Daniel Spaulding finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run (33:15.81). Junior Greg Kroleski took eighth in the 5,000 (16:29.52) while senior Andrew Leuenberger crossed in eighth place in the 10,000 (33:49.79).

Women

Grove City — Four athletes recorded top-10 finishes. Sophomore Julia Seward placed second in the 5,000, crossing in a time of 18 minutes, 50.04 seconds. Junior Mary Majchrowicz claimed sixth in the 400 with a mark of 58.52 seconds. Sophomore Callie Martin placed sixth in the 10,000 (44:00.69), one spot ahead of sophomore teammate Anna Butler.

SOFTBALL

Marietta 10-2 , Mount Union 4-1 — In the nightcap Katie Harmon (Western Reserve High) pitched a four-hitter for the Purple Raiders (24-6, 9-3 Ohio Athletic Conf). Marietta is 20-6, 5-3.
