Grove City 68, Penn State Beaver 58

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Three Grove City players scored in double figures, helping lift the host Wolverines in non-conference men's basketball action at the Grove City College Arena. Senior center Craig Hallman (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) led Grove City with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting while junior guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) fired in 14 points. Carr also had a game-high eight rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Mark Smith (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) added 10 points. Joe Daransky led Beaver with 24 points while Delon Bournes added 17. Grove City will visit Presidents' Athletic Conference archrival Westminster on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Women

Bethany 67, Carnegie Mellon 66

PITTSBURGH — A 3-pointer by junior Lisa Mitchell at the buzzer gave Bethany (6-8) its second win at the horn this season. Bethany had to recover from another slow start offensively. The Bison trailed 12-4 after eight minutes. The Green and White ripped off a 20-5 run that gave them their biggest lead of the half at 26-19. Neither team shot particularly well from the floor in the first half. Bethany was 11-of-33 (33 percent) and the Tartans were 10-of-35 (29 percent), but the visitors' converted 18 BC turnovers into 13 points and the Bison held a sizable 33-19 advantage on the glass in the opening stanza. Bethany will travel to Waynesburg (Pa.) College to take on the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
