Pauline A. Crepage, 88
MCDONALD Private services are being held for Pauline A. Crepage, 88, who died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Newell, W.Va. the daughter of the late John and Mary (Chwala) Stepien.
She graduated from Wells High School in 1937 and was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald. She was active with her children in the Boy Scouts and served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.
For many years she taught arts and crafts to children at McDonald Woodland Park, which gave her great pleasure. She enjoyed cooking and sewing by making clothes and crafts for her family and friends.
She married Rudolph Crepage on Aug. 4, 1944 and he passed away Oct. 19, 2001.
She was a sweet and loving mother of two sons, William (Chris) Crepage of Fort Lauderdale and Michael Crepage of McDonald. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nicholas (Ellie) Crepage of Miami and Matthew Crepage of McDonald; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin of Miami.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and John Stepien and a sister, Elizabeth Kadilak
Donations may be made in her name directly to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or Hospice of the Valley.

Edward D. Foutz, 80
Together Again
HUBBARD Edward D. Foutz, 80, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at Forum Health Northside Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 2, 1928 in Bessemer, Pa., a son of Paul W. and Catherine DeGaten Foutz and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Foutz worked for Jet Stream in Niles for the last six years and previously was a shipper with General Fireproofing for 42 years, before retiring in 1990. He was of the Baptist faith and served with the U.S. Army Military Police Battalion in Manila in 1946 and 1947.
Edward was devoted to his wife of 51 years and the many joys they had traveling together. He enjoyed bowling, his dog, Ginger, talking, and making people laugh.
His wife, the former Mildred Riehl, whom he married March 25, 1950, died Sept. 12, 2001.
He leaves a son, Robert A. Foutz of Girard; two devoted and loving daughters, Karen (Gary) Gearhart of Hubbard and Kathleen (Rick Taylor) Stoneburner of Hubbard; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Mildred.

Gladys M. Gallite, 88
McDONALD There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel for Gladys M. Gallite, 88, who passed away Monday afternoon at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren.
Gladys was born April 11, 1920 in Odessa, Fla., a daughter of the late George and Bertie (Hollbrook) Comer.
A graduate of McDonald High School, she had worked for the General Electric Lamp Plant, attended the Open Door Community Church in McDonald, and loved flowers and gardening.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Paul Gallite, whom she married March 26, 1945; and one son Paul Gallite and his wife Debbie of McDonald.
Besides her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Jimmy, and George (Junior); and two sisters, Mary and Nancy.

Anna M. Gocala, 87
POLAND Prayers will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Matthias Church for Anna M. Gocala, 87, who passed away Monday afternoon at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Boardman.
Anna was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Campbell, the daughter of Anthony and Veronica Hutnansky Koly.
She was a 1938 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and had worked at the Stambaugh Thompson Hardware Store in downtown Youngstown as a shipping clerk. She later worked at the Carrousel Snack Shop in the Southern Park Mall and had been a longtime babysitter for many families in the area. She was a member of St. Matthias Church and a past president of its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.
Her husband, John H. Gocala, whom she married Nov. 23, 1946, died Jan. 20, 1976.
She is survived by a son, John J. Jack and his wife, Joan Gocala, of Poland; two grandchildren, Dr. Mary Jo (Scott) McIntyre and John (Kristin) Gocala Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jacqueline, and Isabelle McIntyre.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Jazwinski and Mary Hanigovsky, and a brother, George Koly.

EASTLAKE Private graveside services, where held Wednesday at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, for Adam L. Groh, 81, who passed away Nov. 22, 2008 at Heartland in Mentor.
He was born April 29, 1927 in Youngstown.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Bennett) Groh, whom he married May 1, 1948; son, Jeff (Nancee) Groh of Carlisle, Pa.; two daughters, Debbie (Dale) Crowl of Painsville and Kim (Jim) Medved of Wooster; five grandchildren, Logan, Donovan, Tyler, Sarah and Jim Jr.; and a sister, Mary Smith of Mentor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mary Groh; and five brothers and sisters.

Samuel Haskins, 65
YOUNGSTOWN Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home for Samuel Haskins, 65, who departed his earthly life Monday morning, Nov. 24, 2008, in Andover.
Sammy was born Dec. 15, 1942 in Youngstown, the doting son of the late William C. and Katie Snell Haskins.
Sammy married the love of his life, Minnie Harris Haskins on Jan. 14, 1961. To their union were born four children, Sandra, Crystal, and Lisa Haskins-Rosado and David Haskins.
He worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube until its closing and was the model father and husband.
Sammy leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife; children; one sister, Shirley Haskins; one brother, Joe Haskins; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; plus a host of extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Otis; and sister, Ruby.
Viewing will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Uncle G Jones McNeal
YOUNGSTOWN George Franklin Jones McNeal, 65, departed this life Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at 10:07 p.m. at Hospice House.
He was born July 27, 1943 in Glendora, Miss., the son of George Jones and Estella McNeal.
Mr. McNeal was employed for 17 years at Gateways of Better Living as a caregiver, before retiring in August of 2008. He also worked for 20 years at Mobile Oil Company as a IT Technician. He was a member of the Alpha and Omega Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed mentoring his nephews.
He was a 1962 graduate of East High School and received an associate degree in engineering from El Centro Community College and served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic during the Vietnam War for four years.
He leaves to mourn three sons, George F.J. Smith of Hawaii, and Diomedes T. McNeal and Randolph Bibbs, both of Dallas; one daughter, Danita Dawn McNeal of Dallas; mother, Estella McNeal Bender of Youngstown; six sisters, Cynthia Taylor of Round Lake, Ill., and Jean Cummings Love, Bobby Reynolds, Debra L. Cummings Bundy, Ramona A. Cummings, LaNita G. Cummings Figueroa, all of Youngstown; nine grandchildren; two uncles; and five aunts.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Jones; one son, Telemachus M. McNeal; two brothers, Percy L. Cummings and Achilles M. Cummings; and stepfather, Frank Bender.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at noon at the Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the church.
Burial will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
Margaret Scarnecchia Mahan
NILES Margaret Scarnecchia Mahan passed quietly from this life on Monday morning, Nov. 24.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1919 in Niles to Carmen and Angela Maria Scarnecchia.
Margaret attended St. Stephens Elementary School through the eighth grade and graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1937. It gave her great pleasure to meet with her classmates at their reunion get-togethers over these last years. After graduation, she attended Youngstown College and Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing, where she earned her R.N. in 1943.
This was the turning point in her life because she made the decision to enter the Army-Air Force during WWII. She served her country as a first lieutenant from 1944 to 1946 in England, France and Germany, whereupon, she earned the Bronze Star, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Battle Star. She was forever changed by those experiences and was grateful for having been a part of the war effort.
In 1997, her family made the trip with her to the Womens War Memorial in Arlington, Va., where she donated war photos and memorabilia. After the war, she returned to the Niles area and worked at the Niles Medical Clinic. Her nursing career was diverse. She was an industrial nurse for Republic Steel, a public health nurse for the Youngstown Heart Association, and she spent 25 years as a school nurse with the Warren City Schools.
She had the good fortune to meet and marry Richard Mahan on Oct. 9, 1948, they were married for 35 years until his death in 1984.
Their children are Richard Mahan and his wife, Joyce, of Niles and Mary Beth Mahan Conrad and her husband, Edward of Howland. She has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Palmer and Gilbert; and sisters, Irene and Gloria.
She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 9:30 a.m. with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 9 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Nov. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call a half hour before the funeral service on Saturday morning.
Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Robert L. McElwain, 75
BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. today at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating for Robert L. McElwain, 75, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.
Robert was born April 3, 1933 in Greenville, Pa., to the late Clarence and Mary (Bell) McElwain.
Bob attended Niles High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a sergeant first class during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2799 in New Springfield.
He retired in 1998 from General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant as a sprayer in the paint department with over 28 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia (Sanderson Stefan) McElwain, whom he married on St. Valentines Day in 1982; two daughters, Darlene (Joe) Cramer of Poland and Diann (Eric) Zoner of Minnesota; a son, Andrew Stefan Jr. of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Kelly, Cory, Joseph, Jenna, Mackenzie, and Olivia; and a great-grandson, Angelo.
Burial will be private at Green Haven Memory Gardens.

CAMPBELL Antonio N. Rivera, 8, passed away suddenly on Monday, Nov. 24.
Antonio was born in Youngstown, a son of Miguel Antonio and Brenda Rivera.
He attended the Early Intervention at Leonard Kirtz School.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents; four brothers, Eddie of Campbell, Mike of Rhode Island, Sammy of Florida and David Rivera of New York; a sister, Vanessa Rivera of Campbell; his grandparents, Gladys and Antonio Rivera; a puppy, Diamond; and uncles, aunts, cousins, other family and friends.

Rosemarie Darlyne Sellers, 68
WARREN Rosemarie Darlyne Sellers, 68, departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at 2:47 p.m. at home of natural causes.
She was born March 19, 1940 in Warren, the daughter of Henry Lincoln and Mary Magdalene Felton Sellers.
Ms. Sellers was employed for 36 years at Trumbull Memorial Hospital as a head nurse of Surgical Care and Obstetrics Gynecology, before retiring in 1996. She was a volunteer tutor at Horace Mann Elementary School for 10 years and Emerson School for one year.
She was a 1957 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and a 1960 graduate of Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing. She received a B.S. in nursing from Youngstown State University and took additional education courses at Kent State University.
She was a member of the I.G.A.S. Church and a member and volunteer of Altrusa. She enjoyed gardening, horticulture, Yoga, animal (pet) care, and tutoring and working with children.
She leaves to mourn her devoted sister, Evelina L. Smith of Warren; a half sister, Grace Ziegler of Niles; and a host of relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a half brother, Henry Lincoln Sellers Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the I.G.A.S. Church.

YOUNGSTOWN MaryAnn Stefanec, born March 24, 1947 in Wilmington, N.C., to her loving parents, Nicholas and Stella Ziobert Stefanec, departed her life very peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
MaryAnn was a 1965 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. After graduation, she was employed at the Isalys Dairy Company. She then retired from the Youngstown Board of Education, after 34 years of service, working in the payroll and accounting departments.
MaryAnn served over 20 years as chapter-chair president of AFSCME Local 1143B. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her pets.
MaryAnn is survived by her loving sister, Ann DeDe Lucas of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; her brother, Joseph (Joelyn) Stefanec of Boardman; and her nieces and nephews.

Eunice Earl Tate, 64
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Price Memorial AME Zion Church for Mr. Eunice Earl Tate, 64, who departed this life Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Tate was born Sept. 27, 1944 in Brooksville, Miss., a son of Arlegus Sr. and Annie Dixon Tate, coming to this area in 1963.
After coming to Youngstown, Earl met and married the former Sandra Lawson in 1972 and to this union three children were born.
He had been employed with General Motors Lordstown for 22 years, retiring in 1984. He was a former member of the Price Memorial AME Zion Church, a member of the Rising Sun Lodge No. 90 P H A and a member of the Macon Alumni Scholarship Fund, where he served as marshal for 28 years.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memory, five children, Kevin of Waldorf, Md., Damion of Lima, Courtney of Baghdad, Iraq, Callie Padgett of Cleveland and Alexis Richardson of Pittsburgh; four brothers, Arlegus and Albert Tate, both of Youngstown Pierce Tate of Brooksville, Miss., and Eric (Mary) Tate of Campbell; five sisters, Martha (Roosevelt) Bush, Elnora Bush, Saint (Matthew) Jones and Ruby (Jack) Elston, all of St. Louis, and Doris Smith of Chicago; six grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; an uncle, Sam D. Tate of California; a brother-in-law, Ernest Jordan of St. Louis; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jordan.
