Emily Marie Yourchisin Algoe, 51

HERMITAGE, PA. – Emily Marie Yourchisin Algoe, 51, passed away unexpectedly at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Sharon Regional Health System.

She was born in Sharon, Pa., on April 12, 1957, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth J. Pucak Yourchisin.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Hickory High School in 1975.

Emily was employed for more than 30 years at Forum Health Northside Medical Center in Youngstown as a cardiovascular technician. She was a tireless worker who was dedicated to her profession and she was also a loving mother who cherished her family.

She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Yourchisin of Conneaut Lake, Pa.; a daughter, Megan M. Wasko and her husband, Paul, of Wheatland, Pa.; a son, Shawn Algoe of Mercer, Pa., two brothers, David J. Yourchisin and his wife, Kathleen, of Dade City, Fla. and Joseph A. Yourchisin and his wife, Cheryl, of Brookfield; and her nephews and niece, Eric Yourchisin and Courtney and Alex Yourchisin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Yourchisin.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 2008, at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 1090 E. State St. in Sharon.

Joyce A. Boerner, 73

STRUTHERS – Joyce A. Boerner, 73, formerly of Massillon, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman Campus in Boardman.

She was born in Massillon on Feb. 13, 1935, the daughter to the late John Phillip and Opal (Peters) Beers.

Joyce was a member of the Christian Science Church. She was a 1953 graduate of Massillon Washington High School, was the marble champion, and was a Girl Scout leader of Troop No. 591. Joyce was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, and bird watching.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Beers; and a husband, John V. Boerner in 1978.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Ann (John) Calhoun of Massillon, Lisa E. (Burl) Beitzel, with whom she lived in Struthers, Tracey J. (David) Snyder of Canton, Jeffrey J. Boerner of Massillon and Ted A. (Angela) Boerner of Gainesville, Ga.; stepchildren, John V. Boerner IV, Cynthia Mazda, Todd Edwin Boerner and Susan Motts; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday.

Burial was at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Ted A. Brookhart, 50

COLUMBIANA – Ted A. Brookhart, 50, of 458 Parkview Drive, died Saturday at his home.

Mr. Brookhart was born Oct. 29, 1958 in Celina, Ohio, a son of Marion L. and Irene Bomholt Brookhart and had lived here since 1971, coming from Celina.

He was a 1977 graduate of Columbiana High School, where he was on the track team and the basketball team. He was a member of the two mile relay team that was state runner up in 1977 and was inducted into the Columbiana High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.

He had been assistant coach for the Leetonia Boys Basketball Team for three years and then was assistant coach for both the Columbiana Boys and Girls Basketball Teams for six years. Ted dedicated time to young athletes in track and basketball for many years.

He had been a member of the First United Methodist Church and was treasurer of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 290 of Columbiana.

He had been employed 20 years at Photogenic Machine in Boardman as sales and service manager. While employed there, he was involved in the lighting for President Clinton’s inauguration. He also worked with Kodak for the United Nations Anniversary Celebration. He was then a sales rep for Albums Inc. and for the last two years was employed as maintenance manager at Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana.

Ted is survived by his mother, Irene Brookhart of Columbiana; two sisters, Lori (Bill) Bailey and Julie (Wayne) Kinard, both of Columbiana; two brothers, Gary (Barb) Brookhart of Aurora and Ron (Paulette) Brookhart of West Chester, Ohio; nine nieces and nephews, Brooke Hitchcock, Jenna Bailey, Eric Bailey, Ryan Kinard, Drew Kinard, Carey Brookhart, Brian Brookhart, Andrea Brookhart, and Kellie Brookhart; four great-nieces; his aunt and uncle, Wayne and Melanie Stolz of Atlanta; and a special friend, Mary Waggle of Columbiana.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana, with the Reverend Charles Ready officiating.

Burial will follow at Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.

Elvis Caraballo

BOARDMAN – After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Elvis passed peacefully into eternity on Sunday morning without pain while surrounded by loved ones. Having accepted Christ into his life, his family is comforted by the fact that he is now face-to-face with the Lord and other loved ones who had passed before him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Burgos; his father, Israel Caraballo; his mother-in-law, Virginia Altrudi; and his father-in-law, Joseph Altrudi.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jill; his five children, Anthony, Ariana, Michael, Alexa, and Nicholas; three sisters, Myrna (Dave) Dilullo, Arlene (Hector) Arroyo, and Minerva (Will) Lightner; one brother, Melvin Caraballo; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Altrudi and Linda Caraballo; many loving nieces and nephews; and his dog, Jimmy.

Elvis was actively involved in the community through Boardman Community Baseball and was blessed with a countless number of terrific friends. The family would like to thank the community for its continuous outpouring of support.

He will be remembered as a hard-working man, a loving husband, a wonderful father, a terrific brother, a fabulous uncle, a great friend, and a true inspiration to all who met him. Elvis truly lived his life to the fullest and encouraged everyone else to do the same. He showed everyone how to live, but also how to pass on.

While he is no longer with us, he will live on through the legacy of his children, the widespread actions of his good deeds, and in the hearts of all who had known him.

Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Victory Christian Center in Coitsville.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Boardman, where visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Mary S. Corea, 95

FOREST HILL, MD. – Mary S. Corea, 95, of 109 Forest Hill Drive, formerly of Niles, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center in Forest Hill.

She was born Oct. 7, 1913 in Niles, the daughter of Umberto and Rose Gorglione Salerno.

She was a 1932 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed for 30 years at The May Company Department Store in the children’s shoe department, before retiring in 1975.

She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles and enjoyed cooking.

Her husband, D. Richard Corea, whom she married Oct. 14, 1944, died Nov. 9, 2007.

Mary, who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will be deeply missed by two sons, Richard Corea and his wife, Linda, of Churchville, Md. and Robert Corea of Bel Air, Md.; two brothers, Sam Salerno of Niles and Albert Salerno and his wife, Marie, of Davidson, N.C.; sister, Ann DiGeronimo and her husband, Vincent, of Niles; three grandchildren, Tony Corea and his wife, Kathryn, Kate Abromaitis and her husband, Mark, and Nick Corea; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Corea and Tony Abromaitis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Salerno and Nick Salerno.

Friends may call todayy from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles with Fr. Thomas Kraszewski officiating, preceded by a 12:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at St. Stephen Cemetery.

Brenda Gaglione, 66

COLUMBIANA – Services will be Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel and at 1 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral Church for Brenda Gaglione, 66, who died Sunday evening at Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Brenda was born May 8, 1942 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Galante Muscatello.

She is a 1960 graduate of East High School and had worked in the insurance industry retiring in 2002 after 25 years. She loved her family and was very proud of tradition and very strong on family values. Her greatest joy was taking care of her kids and the grandchildren.

Brenda is survived by her son, T.J. (Rochelle) Gaglione with whom she made her home with in Columbiana; four daughters, Michelle (John) DeRose of North Lima, Karen (Dave) Markulin of Canfield, Renee Oddo of Canfield and Dana (Norm) Moses of Austintown; nine grandchildren, Joey, Bryan, Alex, Adrianna, Carlie, Michael, Anthony, Santino and Mya, who all knew her as “Nana;” three sisters, Rose (Jinx) Ciolli of El Paso, Texas, June (Jack) Palermo of Youngstown, Judy (Bill) Cannacci of Cleveland; a brother, Joe Muscatello of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Vincent Oddo; and her sister, Phyllis DeLucia.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice House in Brenda’s memory.

Billy Adelbert Houston, 78

AUSTINTOWN – Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Billy Adelbert Houston, 78, who passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at his home surrounded by his family.

Billy was born March 6, 1930 in Kylertown, Pa., the son of James and Ada (Lund) Houston.

He was an operating engineer for 42 years with A.P. O’Horo / Fithian Contracting, retiring in 1992. Billy was a member of the Operating Engineer Union, Local 66 for more than 58 years and a member of the union retirees club. He was a former member of the Galilee Baptist Church and had more recently attended the Ellsworth United Methodist Church and the Berlin Center United Methodist Church. Billy’s hobbies included, woodworking, gardening and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, the former Marianne Dunn, whom he married July 10, 1965; four children, Jean (Jerry) Yeager of New Castle, Pa. David (Elaina) Houston of Austintown, and Lori Houston and Jeffrey (Peggy) Houston, both of Boardman; five grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Jennifer, Derrick, and Mitchell; and one great-grandchild, Tay.

Besides his parents, Billy was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Doyle Houston, and one sister, Norma Jean Houston.

Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Eloise A. Kane, 91

CANFIELD – Prayers will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Saint Patrick Church celebrated by Father Edward Noga, for Eloise A. Kane, 91, formerly of Youngstown, who died Friday, Nov. 21, at her residence.

Mrs. Kane was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Austintown Township, a daughter of Paul and Anna Rooney Albert, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of South High School and had worked at the G.E. Mazda Lamp Plant. Eloise was a member of Saint Christine Church.

Her husband, James J. Kane, whom she married June 19, 1941, died Aug. 14, 1977.

She leaves two daughters, Judy (Mickey) Boyle of Westerville and Diane (Robert) Palma of Canfield; a sister, Bonnie (Bob) Nestor of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Timothy (Tara) Boyle of Winter Springs, Fla., Karri (Chris) Johnson of Westerville, Kevin Palma of Houston and Kate Palma of Canfield; and two great-grandchildren, Colin Johnson and Dominic Palma.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Albert and four sisters, Dorothy Helzer, Marian Albert, May Laverne Albert and Josie Albert.

Anthony “Dugan” Lucarell, 102

YOUNGSTOWN – Private services will be held today at the McCauley Funeral Home for Anthony “Dugan” Lucarell, 102, who passed Saturday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

 Dugan was born June 21, 1906 in Youngstown, a son of Dominic and Philomena Bruno Lucarell and was a lifelong member of the community.

 Mr. Lucarell retired from the Youngstown Water Department as an inspector and was a member of St. Edward Church.

 Earlier this year he was a recipient of The Difference Makers’ Legend Award, which states the best adjective to describe “Dugan,” is that he is unique. Unique in the sense that he is the only centenarian in this very elite group, plus he never stepped upon the sacred ground of the Muny. His athletic prowesses were restricted to ball diamond and the bowling alleys, where he was an outstanding softball pitcher and an “ace” in any “jackpot” game at any local alley.

 Dugan’s strongest quality however, was being a faithful and loyal husband to his lovely wife, Dorothy, for 68 years, especially the past 10-15 years, when she has been very ill.

 He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former Dorothy E. Pogacnik; sons, Philip (Rose Ellen) of Tierra Verde, Fla. and Richard, with whom he made his home; a daughter, Elaine Seminara of Farmdale; a sister, Lucille Young of Boardman; a brother, William of Liberty Township; grandchildren, Shawn Seminara of Las Vegas, Stacy Seminara of Warren, Philip Lucarell of Liberty Township and Kristin Brown of Florida; and three great-grandchildren.

 Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Victoria White and Marie Young; and brothers, Philip, Angelo, Rocco and James Lucarell.

Charles W. Mathias, M.D.

SUN CITY CENTER, FLA. – Charles W. Mathias, M.D., formerly of Niles and Warren, died Nov. 5, 2008.

Surviving Dr. Mathias is his wife of 62 years, Iona; a niece; and a nephew.

He was born in Youngstown on Oct. 20, 1915.

He attended schools in Niles and graduated from medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1940.

He served in the military during WWII as a Major, U.S. Army Medical Officer in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1944 to 1946. It was there that he met Iona Ketelsen and they married in 1946.

Dr. Mathias practiced medicine in the Niles and Warren areas from 1946 to 1990. Upon retirement, he received an award from the Ohio State Medical Association for 50 years of service.

A highlight of his retirement was a historic globe-circling adventure via private chartered supersonic Concorde with Iona.

Dr. Mathias was a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Bariatric Physicians, Trumbull County Medical Society and Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

His was affiliated with the American Legion, the American Red Cross, the Niles Historical Society, the Knights of Columbus, Muskoka Ontario, Canada Historical Society, the Amateur Radio Relay League, Warren Amateur Radio Association, Lakeland Florida Quarter Century Radio Club and Sun City Center Radio Club. His call letters were W8KGD.

He attended the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the Freedom Plaza in Sun City Center.

Internment was at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross or LifePath Hospice, in Sun City Center, in lieu of flowers.


Robert L. McElwain, 65

BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel with Pastor Rusty Wills officiating for Robert L. McElwain, 65, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Boardman Community Care after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was born April 3, 1943 in Greenville, Pa., to the late Clarence and Mary (Bell) McElwain.

“Bob” attended Niles High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a sergeant first class during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2799 in New Springfield.

He retired in 1998 from General Motors Lordstown Assembly Plant as a sprayer in the paint department with over 28 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia (Sanderson Stefan) McElwain, whom he married on St. Valentines Day in 1982; two daughters, Darlene (Joe) Cramer of Poland, and Diann (Eric) Zoner of Minnesota; a son, Andrew Stefan Jr. of Youngstown; six grandchildren, Kelly, Cory, Joseph, Jenna, Mackenzie, and Olivia; and a great-grandson, Angelo.

Burial will be private at Green Haven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Frances O’Neill, 83

BOARDMAN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Church for Mrs. Mary Frances O’Neill, 83, who was born in Youngstown on July 15, 1925.

She was the daughter of Paul V. and Mathilda Morrison Rodgers.

Mary was a 1942 graduate of Ursuline High School and was employed as a private secretary at IBM Corporation until June of 1948.

Mary Frances was a homemaker, a member of the church and its Ladies Guild, the Junior Seton Circle Club and the former Garden Club of the Little Flowers.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John J. O’Neill Sr., whom she married July 17, 1948; four children, Patricia (Arthur) Stackpole of Austintown, Pamela O’Neill of Boardman, John J. (Janice) O’Neill of Boardman and Michael P. (Diane) O’Neill, Jr. of Foley, Ala.; a sister, Patricia Edwards of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, Michael, John and Todd Spencer, Sean, Kent and Katie O’Neill, Michelle Canavan Testa, Jennifer Canavan McKim, Jamie, Heather and Heidi O’Neill; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Paul V. Rodgers Jr ; and a brother-in-law, John G. Edwards.

Kenneth Warren Seckman, 84

YOUNGSTOWN - Kenneth Warren Seckman, 84, died peacefully after an extended illness Sunday morning at his home with his family at his side.

Kenneth was born Monday, May 12, 1924, in Struthers, a son of Arza D. and Dessie Conklin Seckman.

Kenneth was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked at Republic Steel for five years and retired from General Fireproofing in 1985 after working there for 38 years. He was an avid square and round dancer for many years in several clubs in the area.

Kenneth leaves his wife, Janet, whom he married on June 26, 1950; one daughter, Debra (Rich) Tarnaski of Youngstown; one son, David (Deb) Seckman of Franklin, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Holly Tarnaski and her fiancé James Justice; one grandson, Ryan Sprague; one great-grandchild, Jagis Sprague; one nephew, Kenneth (Arlene) Moore of Youngstown; and many other extended family members.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Zola Moore; and one brother, Allen Seckman.

Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.

Dwayne J. “Twin” Smith, 51

YOUNGSTOWN – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Dwayne J. “Twin” Smith, 51 will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Heard officiating.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 27, 1956 in Youngstown, a son of Arnold and Mary A. Hill Smith.

He was a 1975 graduate of East High School. He was formerly employed as a janitor with Home Depot. He enjoyed working on cars, drawing and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended the Rising Star Baptist Church.

On Nov. 20, 2008, our Heavenly Father cast his eternal light onto Hospice of the Valley and beckoned him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother with whom he made his home; his wife, the former Denise A. Hewlett, whom he married Aug. 3, 1984, and two daughters, Sierra Smith and Monica and her husband, Shakir Perkins, all of Youngstown; two sons, Jason and his wife, Shilamar Hewlett, of Campbell and Dwayne J. “D.J.” Smith Jr. of Youngstown; three sisters, Patricia D. Eiland, Deborah and her husband, Michael Walker, and Denise Houston and her friend, John Curd III, all of Youngstown; four brothers, William R. Hill and his friend, Velinda Ray of Youngstown, Charles D. Logan and John H. and his wife, Donna Smith, both of Boardman, and Robert K. Smith of Oxon Hill, Md.; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Wayne M. (his twin) Smith and Arnold V. Smith; a sister, Terry L. Smith; his paternal grandparents, Ulysses and Viola Moore Smith; and his maternal grandparents, John and Sarah Hill.

David W. Stroup, 75

ALLIANCE – David W. Stroup, 75, died on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at 8:43 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital.

He was born on July 8, 1933 in Atwater, and lived in the Alliance area the last 20 years of life.

David was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict in the 82nd Airborne.

Mr. Stroup was a corporate pilot for General Electric Air Transport for 23 years, retiring on Jan. 1, 1988.

He was a member of the Alliance Lions Club, the Alliance Senior Center, and the American WACO Club Inc. and ECOPA and Midwest Antique Airplane Club.

He enjoyed restoring antique airplanes.

David is survived by his wife, Antonette M. “Toni” (Kramer) Stroup, whom he married on Oct. 29, 1960; three daughters, Mary A. Stroup of Bethel, Conn., Janeann (David) Walker of Danbury, Conn. and Diane Stroup of Alliance; a son, David James Stroup of Alliance; three brothers, Gerald Stroup of Atwater, Alan (Carol) Stroup of Cocoa, Fla. and Roger (Mary) Stroup of Moscow Mills, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his parents, Chester E. and Mary V. (Sickle) Stroup.

The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, from 9 to 10 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert as celebrant.

Interment with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Kenneth L. Tobin, 71

MINERAL RIDGE – Kenneth L. Tobin, 71, of Briarfield at the Ridge, formerly of Parkside Drive in Boardman, died Sunday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

“Ken” was born Oct. 26, 1937 in Chatfield, a son of Donald and Mabel Ostermyer Tobin.

He was a welder for Morrison Metalweld Processing Corp., retiring in 1981.

He was a graduate of Chatfield High School. Among Ken’s interests was a zeal for drag racing, and he was locally known for it throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

His wife of 33 years, the former Joan Marie Blumetti, whom he married Nov. 7, 1966, died July 1, 1999.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Terri Weaver of Canfield and Wendy Miller of Phoenix; his son, Larry Tobin, also of Canfield; his sisters, June Ross of Sandusky and Judy Schumaker of Marion; and his grandchildren, Nicole and Catlyn Jaras, and Zachery and Taylor Miller.

At Ken’s request, there are to be no calling hours or services.

Rev. Edward Francis Varble, 84

LOUISVILLE – Rev. Edward Francis Varble, 84, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center following a recent illness.

Father Varble was born Nov. 11, 1924, the son of John and Elizabeth (Shannon) Varble.

He attended Fairmont Public School and St. Paul School in Canton. He attended St. Joseph Seminary in Westmont, Ill., for high school and college, and studied philosophy at St. Mary’s College in St. Mary, Ky. He completed his priesthood studies at Mount St. Mary’s of the West Seminary in Cincinnati. He later earned a sociology degree from Walsh College in North Canton. He was ordained April 29, 1950 by Bishop James McFadden.

Following ordination, Father Varble served as associate pastor at St. Patrick in Youngstown from 1950 to 1951 and St. Paul in Salem from 1951 to 1954. He was named chaplain at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown from 1954 to 1955.

He taught at Ursuline High School while holding parish posts at St. Christine and the Immaculate Conception in Youngstown. He was named pastor of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Middlebranch in 1966, where he remained until his retirement in 1995.

In addition, Fr. Varble served as spiritual director of the Youngstown Curia of the Legion of Mary, was chaplain to many Knights of Columbus units in the diocese, was chaplain to the Columbiana deanery Boy Scouts and was a religion instructor at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Father Varble is survived by a nephew, Michael Varble Jr., and nieces, Charlotte Stewart and Donna Szink.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Glancy and Marie Woods and brother, Michael Varble.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Little Flower Catholic Church, 2040 Diamond St. NE (Middlebranch) in North Canton, with The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Youngstown Diocese officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Calling hours will take place today, Nov. 25, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to Mass at the Little Flower Catholic Church.

A Prayer Vigil will take place today at 8 p.m.
