Hermitage teens go on crime spree out of 'boredom'
HERMITAGE, Pa. Two bored 15-year-old Hermitage boys calling themselves "white bandits" are accused of going on a crime spree.
Police said the two told police they committed the crimes that ranged from slashing tires and theft out of boredom. Police said the money loss from vandalism and thefts is estimated at $6,358. Both were charged in juvenile court with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
Police contend there were 11 different instances occurring between Oct. 20 and Sunday.
Among the instances cited by police in a news release were:
Nov. 10 burglary of the Wine And Spirits shop and attempted burglary of Splitstone's entertainment, both located on East State Street
Nov. 12 theft and criminal mischief from Archibald Tires, 2410 E. State St.
Nov. 20 theft and criminal mischief at Agency on Aging, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive.
Dec. 3 criminal mischief at Agency on Aging.
Police said Sunday there were numerous tires slashed in the areas of Concord Road, Meadowbrook Drive and Ellis Avenue. Spray paint was found on cars and sheds in the area.
Both juveniles are being held in juvenile detention facilities pending hearings, police said.
