A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

Sept. 15

Theft/misuse of a credit card: A Girard woman reported losing her check card at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., and learning numerous fraudulent transactions were made with it at various Liberty businesses.

Breaking and entering: A man in the 1600 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road found a damaged window after someone apparently entered. A set of house keys and car keys as well as a vehicle title were taken.

Arrests: After pulling over a vehicle at LaFrance Dry Cleaners, 3433 Belmont Ave., police arrested a Youngstown man, 63, and an Austintown man, 47, on warrants. Original charges were receiving stolen property and fraud.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Logan Gate Road woman said her 18-year-old granddaughter took her vehicle without permission.

Sept. 16

Recovered property: Police conducted a registration check on a car on Tuttle Drive and determined it had been stolen in Youngstown. Authorities also recovered on the floor of the vehicle a stolen loaded handgun.

Recovered property: Officers found a damaged 1989 Chevrolet Astro van in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue after a Youngstown man reported it stolen from Joe Restaurant, 2921 Belmont Ave.

Auto theft/vandalism: Someone broke into Cleveland Auto Wrecking Co. Inc., 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, stole a 1988 Mercury Cougar from the salvage yard and damaged the front gate.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle's front tire was slashed at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, 500 Gypsy Lane.

Sept. 17

Aggravated menacing: A Lucretia Drive woman told police a man in the 1700 block fired three shots in the air from his yard in an attempt to intimidate her.

Weapon found: While investigating a vehicular accident near Goldie Road and Fifth Avenue, police found a loaded assault rifle behind the seat of one of the vehicles.

Sept. 19

Vandalism: Someone did about $1,500 worth of damage to climbing equipment near Church Hill Park off Belmont Avenue.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered Unity Church Centre, 1226 Naylor-Lloyd Road, through a first-floor rear window and stole a $450 wireless microphone.

Theft: A man in the 2800 block of Belmont Avenue discovered $1,800 missing from a drawer.

Burglary: A woman returned to her apartment in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive and noticed a screen had been torn from a rear window. Stolen were a Nintendo game system, eight Nintendo cartridges, 12 DVDs and 20 Nintendo games, for a loss of about $900.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a home in the 5700 block of Logan Arms Drive, which also had cracks in part of its siding.

Robbery: Two employees at Papa John's Pizza, 3175 Belmont Ave., told police a man age 17 to 20 who may have had a concealed weapon fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money. The man was wearing a dark hoodie and pants with his face partially covered by a dark towel, a report said.

Bad check/forgery: A worker at Giant Eagle reported a Youngstown man, 48, tried to cash a $570 payroll check determined to be counterfeit.

Theft: A worker at Big Lots, 3491 Belmont Ave., told officers a 16-year-old Youngstown boy placed items in a bag and left without paying.

Sept. 20

Theft: After conducting a vehicle registration check, police arrested a 27-year-old Lake Milton woman at a BP gas station, 2703 Belmont Ave. She was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging her with theft.

Arrest: Girard police turned over to Liberty authorities a 36-year-old Girard man, who was arraigned on charges of misuse of credit cards and receiving stolen property.

Sept. 21

Assault: A Girard man alleged that a Youngstown man, 23, grabbed and choked him in the Girard man's car at Colonial Plaza on Belmont Avenue.

Assault: A Youngstown woman told police a 29-year-old Monticello Drive man attacked and tossed her out of his residence during an argument.

GIRARD

Sept. 19

Assault: A 14-year-old Girard boy told authorities two other Girard boys, 13 and 14, tossed rocks, striking the victim's arms, legs and body, at Tod Memorial Park near Park Avenue. The boy also said he was thrown into a creek.

Criminal damaging: Police were called to Tod Memorial Park after netting surrounding batting cages sustained $200 worth of damage. Three Girard boys, two age 13 and one 14, were summoned to juvenile court.
