Changes made in management

The steelmaker created a position to oversee business development.

WARREN — WCI Steel made changes to its senior management team Wednesday, just two days after emerging from bankruptcy court protection.

Thomas Gentile was named to the new position of vice president of business development. He had been vice president and chief financial officer.

Gentile will coordinate and implement the Warren steelmaker's long-term strategic plan.

Gentile came to WCI in 2002. Previously, he was with BP America in Cleveland for 23 years in a variety of treasury and accounting posts.

He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Cleveland State University and a master's degree in business administration from John Carroll University.

Cynthia Burns Bezik replaces Gentile as vice president and CFO. She had worked as a consultant for the noteholders which gained control of the company in bankruptcy court. Previously, she was senior vice president of finance and CFO for Cleveland-Cliffs.

Bezik earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Youngstown State University and a master's degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University.

John Amer has been named controller for WCI. He began at the company in February 2005 on a contract basis to provide accounting and finance support.

Previously, Amer had served as chief financial officer of Remacor in West Pittsburg, Pa. He also was controller for GF Corp. in Youngstown from 1977 to 1986.

Amer received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
