The Red Hurricanes went 8-4 last season and lost in the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals, but lost 10 seniors to graduation, including all-state quarterback Michael Bongivengo, who held the school’s single-season passing yardage record. But senior RB Keith Keene, who set the school’s single-season rushing record, will be back to help ease the load on sophomore QB Johnny Matarazzo, who will replace Bongivengo. There are some solid pieces in place and good numbers (75 players in grades 9-12), so New Castle should be just fine.
