Although East Liverpool has had a traditionally strong program, Asher takes over a team in the midst of a rebuilding project. The Potters went 1-9 last year under Pat McNicol after being forced to forfeit two of their wins. Record aside, the Potters were competitive in nearly every game and have good numbers (51 players in grades 10-12), so there is potential for a nice rebound. Youngstown-area fans should be no stranger to Asher, who served as defensive line coach under Jim Tressel at YSU from 1991-96.
