How to play

• To play, login every week to the picks page and make your selections for each of the selected games. Make sure you enter a score for the tie breaker game. We use this to calculate the winner should there be a tie in points (...there usually is.)
• There's always twenty points available each week for a ten week total of 200. Whoever gets the most points at the end of the contest is the grand winner. Whomever gets the top score each week is the weekly winner. Weekly winners will get a prize provided by one of our sponsors.

How we calculate the scores

• The scores are determined by whether or not the players and teams the player picked won and how well the chosen players did. You will receive a point for every correct answer. There is a possible 20 points each week. If there is a tie the tie-breaker scores are used to pick the winner. The tie breaker needs to be the closest to the actual score. It's okay to go over or under. If a winner still cannot be chosen due to two players picking the same score the system will randomly select one of the players.

When is a winner picked?

• We post the scores as they are entered by us so you'll be able to see how you did. However we don't post an official winner until monday morning around noon. We wait to make sure our stats are as right and correct as possible. The stats we get on Fridays do not suffice to determine a winner.
• If you are signed up on the main page to receive the weekly recap you'll receive an email from us on monday to let them know who won and that the next week of picking is open.

What's new/changed in 2011?

• • Player picks will be eliminated in 2011. We will return to the previous format of 19 regular picks and 1 tiebreaker.
• • Picking history is a simple summary of your picks and how you did.
• • Group pages have been streamlined for user readaibility. An issue where admin couldn't change their group image has been fixed.
• • You can now easily set your avatar to your favorite teams helmet by clicking here.

What about stat corrections that happen afterwards?

• Sometimes schools will have their stats adjusted later in the season. We will adjust the score for our records but we don't rescore that week.

How long do I have to pick?

• Picking on games is set to stop before the official start time. Picking on players ends before the start of the first game of the week (usually thursday at 7.)

What if I miss a week?

• If you miss a week and you have already picked twice this season the computer will make an auto pick based off the most popular choices. Autopicking does rule you out of getting a weekly prize. However, it does still count towards the grand prize.

Does Blitz picks cost anything?

• There is no fee to play Blitz Picks. There may be delivery fees and/or taxes associated with the larger prizes, but not with the contest itself.

What do I do if I won?

• Once we finalize and verify a winner we'll do our best to contact you via the email you signed up with. If you don't hear from us, please contact us by email or by telephone at 330-740-2957.

What is a VIP?

• These are local professionals who join in on Blitz Picks. They do not compete for the prizes.

Why can't I be a VIP?

• You are all VIPs in our hearts.

What are the discussions?

• These are areas where everyone can chime in on the game. You can create discussions just for your group or public ones for everyone. They can on topic, off topic or somewhere in between. Only Picks players can participate. You can create discussions here.

What is a Blitz Picks trophy?

• As you play Blitz Picks and reach certain levels you'll earn a trophy. They will appear in your profile and by your name in your comments.

What are groups?

• Groups are groups of users playing picks. The group gives them a common page where they can meet, see each others scores and discuss the contest (or anything else.) The private group page is accessible only to memebers of that group. The group is created by a single user or any other people that user allows to. Playing in a group allows you to get some bonuses and trophies.

How do I create a group?

• On the main page of Blitz Picks is a link to create a group. just give your group a name and any other details you want and you're good to go.

How do I join a group?

• To join a group you must receive an invitation to the group from the group's owner (the user who started the group.) To do this click on the "Request to join" link in the groups directory.

Can I share my playing data?

• Groups are users playing picks together. The group gives them a common page where they can meet, see each others scores and discuss the contest (or anything else.) The private group page is accessible only to memebers of that group. The group is created by a single user who can invite other players. Playing in a group does not offer a competitive advantage in the overall contest. It's strictly social.
